Case: We represented a father who objected to mom’s request to relocate with the minor child to South Carolina. (We represented father in his divorce from mom in 2010.) In addition to his objection, we filed a Motion to Modify Placement and Child Support. The issue the Judge had to decide was whether it was in the minor child’s best interest to relocate with the mom. The case was originally filed in October 2011, and was completed after three days of trial in the beginning of February 2012. In those three days, Kristy called our client, his significant other and two expert witnesses, cross examined the mom and her two witnesses, and delivered an oral closing argument.
Result: Client prevailed and the Judge denied the mom’s motion to relocate with the child. Should mom decide to relocate on her own, dad will get physical possession of the child here in Rhode Island.
